US Army Lieutanant Zebulon Montgomery Pike led three of his men to climb "The Grand Peak" which about 60 years later was named in his honor. In near zero weather, with summer clothing, hungry and cold they turned back after climbing to over 11,000 feet on Mount Rosa.
